Things are moving along nicely now but it will still be several months before we are ready to move in. With warmer weather and the ground drying up things are taking shape. If you are still wanting to order engraved brick/pavers for the landscaping you need to order soon. The deadline will be in just a few weeks. Call the library for more information.

An extra service that we will be offering at the new location is a drive up drop box. These drop boxes will accept print and audio/visual materials in separate boxes reducing damage to materials.
These drop boxes are on the South side of the building facing the parking lot.

Masonry work has started this last week. Seeing the beautiful bricks makes it feel like it’s getting finished. Half the shingles are up also and things are moving right along.

These last few days have brought more spring-like weather, with sunshine and beautiful blue skies. The new library is looking great and is changing now by the week. The crews are on 6- or 7- day work weeks, and big changes should be coming this month. The shingles are going up this week as well as more of the window and door frames. Many people have stopped in to say how nice the new building looks. And yes, it will be a great addition to the town. Can’t Wait!

It’s not done yet but here is the first view into the library from the front door. Or should I say where the front door will be. We are hoping and praying for some warm weather so they can get all the ice and snow out of the building.

The south side is ready for brick work but somewhere along the way the windows disappeared. Any one familiar with our current building knows that we are desperate for windows. I’m sure those construction people know right where they left them!

Gone are the days of pulleys and hoists that lift boards and shingles to the roof. Mechanical hoists and lifts now make it easier to transfer materials and keep more men on the roof and less on the ground.

This is a back view from a couple of weeks ago. The roof and walls are almost all closed in now and I hope to get more pictures up soon.

As the rafters fly up to the top of the library it presents a very interesting view from Washington Street.

What delay? Less than a week after the Big Boom our courageous construction workers are at it again. I’m glad that it’s not my job to sit in the middle of that rafter.
